Migrate/convert existing full Ubuntu 14.04 server to LXC container

October 23rd, 2015 by bostjan

Following the guide for converting full CentOS 6 servers to LXC containers, here is the quick update for converting Ubuntu 14.04 hosts to LXC containers.

The procedure for converting Ubuntu 14.04 is the same as for converting CentOS 6, with the exception of step #5 that needs to be skipped (editing /etc/init/tty.conf can not be done, as this file does not exist on Ubuntu).

So, to rephrase in one simple sentence: Follow the guide for CentOS, and skip step #5 (no /etc/init/tty.conf file on Ubuntu 14.04).

Tested with 14.04.3, works like a charm! 🙂

No I don’t see your “update” The orginal post shows a link to “converting full CentOS 6 servers to LXC containers” and a link “converting CentOS 6” but there is no link to your update about Ubuntu 14.04 conversion??

And I clicked on both of those links and both only talk about CentOS conversion? So I thought I’d let you know.

I’d post of screenshot if I could.

You’re using wordpress… did you publish that update? or perhaps publish a draft before you inserted the new content ?
